From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
